Long, Long ago, there lived
a little bear. Her name was
Bimbi. She was very pretty
and fair, but she was
naughty. She never
liked anyone
to be more
beautiful than
her.
One day,
Mamma Bear
bought Bimbi
a cute, little
chair from the
market.

Bimbi Bear!
Mamma Bear bought her a chair,
from the village market!
Clap your hands,
Clap! Clap! Clap!
and sing loudly!

Bimbi liked the chair very much. She
used to sit on the chair all day. One
day, little Bippy Bunny came to Bimbi
Bear’s house to play with her. Wow!
Bippy looked very pretty with her thick,
white fur.
After playing for a while, Bimbi
and Bippy were tired. They
decided to rest. Bippy Bunny fell
asleep. Bimbi Bear looked at
Bippy and thought, “Hmm!
She is prettier than me. I
will make her ugly!”
Bimbi took a pair of scissors
and began to cut Bippy’s
beautiful fur. Bippy was fast
asleep and did not know
anything.

“I have made Bippy very ugly!” Bimbi
thought. She sat in her chair as if nothing
had happened.
Bimbi liked the chair very much. She
used to sit on the chair all day. One
day, little Bippy Bunny came to Bimbi
Bear’s house to play with her. Wow!
Bippy looked very pretty with her thick,
white fur.
After playing for a while, Bimbi
and Bippy were tired. They

asleep. Bimbi Bear looked at
Bippy and thought, “Hmm!

After a while, Bippy Bunny
woke up. It was time
to go back home. She
looked in the mirror to
comb her fur.
“Oh no!” She screamed.
Bippy looked ugly
without her fur!
She began to cry.
“Oh! Bimbi Bear! This
is not fair! My fur
was so lovely. You
have made it so
ugly!
Bippy Bunny ran
home crying.

The next week, Soopy Squirrel came
to Bimbi Bear’s house to play. Soopy
Squirrel was very smart with his fur.
Bimbi and Soopy played together for
a long time. When they got tired, they
decided to rest. Soopy fell asleep.

Bimbi Bear looked at Soopy and thought,
“Hmm! He is smarter than me. I will
make him ugly!”
Bimbi took the scissors and began to
cut Soopy’s fur. Soopy was fast asleep
and did not know anything.
After cutting Soopy’s fur, Bimbi went
and sat on her chair as if nothing had
happened.

After a while, Soopy
Squirrel woke up. It
was time to go back
home. He looked
in the mirror to
comb his fur.
“Oh no!” He
screamed.
Soopy
looked ugly
without
his fur!
He began
to cry.

“Oh! Bimbi Bear!
This is not fair!
My fur was so lovely.
You have made it so ugly!"
He ran back to his house, crying.

Bippy Bunny and Soopy Squirrel
decided to teach Bimbi Bear a lesson.
One day, Bimbi Bear and Mamma
Bear went to the forest to collect
some honey.
“Bimbi dear! We have to go a long
way to collect honey. Sit under this
mango tree. I will be back soon.”
Mamma Bear said.
After a while, Bimbi fell asleep.
Bippy Bunny and Soopy
Squirrel had been
following Bimbi Bear.
They had a bucket of
black paint. When
they saw Bimbi Bear
asleep, they
painted her
black all over.

Bimbi was fast asleep.
She did not hear anything.
When they finished, they ran away.

When Mamma Bear came back, she saw
Bimbi with black paint all over her body.
She woke her up. Bimbi began to cry
loudly when she saw herself.
“Bimbi, Look how sad you feel
when you look ugly! You should
have never cut Bippy’s and Soopy’s
fur,” Mamma Bear said. Mamma
Bear bathed Bimbi in the river
and made her pretty again.
Bimbi then went to Bippy Bunny
and Soopy Squrrel.
“My friends! I am very sorry
I cut your fur!
Here are cherries and
berries.
For you,
In new baskets ,
From Miss Terry!
Let us be merry!

Bimbi, Bippy and Soopy danced together
happily.
Bimbi Bear should not have made her
friends ugly. We should always be good
to our friends.
